APDF provides comprehensive support services to the Somali-Australian community
We support Somali-speaking elders and people with disabilities to access quality care services that respect their culture and language. Our team helps with applications, care planning, and ongoing support to ensure individuals receive the assistance they need to live safely and independently at home.
Home Care Packages are government-funded services for older people who need help to stay at home. We guide clients through the application process, help them understand their entitlements, and connect them with reliable care providers who understand their cultural needs—such as help with cooking, cleaning, transport, and personal care.
Our drop-in centre is a welcoming place for Somali-speaking community members to come in for information, support, and social connection. Whether you need help filling out forms, understanding services, or just want to talk to someone in your language, we’re here for you. It’s a space where everyone is treated with respect and understanding.
We provide step-by-step support to help individuals with disabilities and their families access the NDIS. From eligibility checks and application support to finding culturally aware service providers, we walk with you through every stage of your NDIS journey. Our goal is to empower people to make informed choices and receive the supports they deserve.
We assist Somali-speaking families with a range of services including parenting support, housing applications, school enrolments, Centrelink help, and referrals to family support programs. We understand the challenges that come with settling in a new country, and we’re here to help families stay strong, safe, and supported.
We celebrate and preserve Somali culture, language, and traditions for current and future generations. Through cultural events, storytelling, music, poetry, and community gatherings, we create spaces where Somali-Australians can connect with their roots and share their rich heritage with others. Our programs strengthen identity, pride, and belonging—especially among young people growing up in Australia.
